Hill Cumorah Pagent

Our exciting day began at the Palmyra New York Temple.  We visited outside and then Carter and Grandpa went in to do baptisms for 17 family members from the Wicklander Family Tree.

While Carter and Grandpa were busy... Grandma and Davin went "shopping" !! Davin found a print shop where he could make his very own copy of the first page of the Book of Mormon by himself.  Here he is with the printer guy showing off his work.

During our mid-day activity we went to Fairport, New York and took a cruise on the Colonial Bell  Ship up the Erie Canal.

Fifteen miles up the canal we got to go through one of the numerous "LOCKS" of the canal.  The captain drives the boat into the lock... the water fills up 25 feet in no time at all....

And out we go on the other end.  We barely got out of the lock and went immediately back in again to head back to Fairport.

The next part of our adventure was to visit the Joseph Smith Home and Farm in Palmyra. The boys are entering a replica of the original Smith farm house with one of the Sister Missionaries.

Davin take a photo break at the Smith Family dinner table in the small cabin that the large family lived in. Three rooms downstairs and a sleeping loft upstairs.

Right next to the Smith Farm is the famous Sacred Grove.  We walked quietly through the grove as we contemplated the marvelous religious history and quiet solitude of this important Mormon historical sight.

For two hours before the PAGEANT all the 650 plus actors and actresses wander around and visit with the audience.  We met several famous Book of Mormon characters.  The boys met Abinadi who (unfortunately) got burned at the stake later in the Pageant.

Anna got a great picture of the of the beginning sequence of the Pageant. The white clad trumpeting Angels announce the beginning of the Pageant as all the actors mount the gigantic stage.

By the time the PAGEANT was over at 10:45 PM we all felt like this!!!

It was an exciting day. A little sleep and we would do it all over again a second day with a few different activities.

What a GREAT week it has been in New York.

SATURDAY MORNING... the PLANE TRIP HOME!!!
